Meet Max

Koiri is run by Max Wolfgram (Ngāti Pikiao | He/Him, They/Them) and is a reflection of whakapapa and a commitment to community well-being.With a deep passion for queer, Māori, and takatāpui health, Max is dedicated to supporting their communities through with trauma-informed, culturally sensitive practice."I want to help people, especially those who are queer or Māori, reconnect with themselves and their bodies.”After spending 10 years as a chartered accountant, Max felt called to embrace their roots in massage therapy - a path inspired by their nan and grounded in the principles of rongoā and manakitanga.“When I was a child, I’d head straight to the marae after school where Nan would give massages. That early exposure instilled a respect for massage and an understanding of the body's ability to heal.”Now based in Ōtepoti with their partner and beloved staffie. Max enjoys balancing their practice with crafting, swimming, listening to classical music and learning te reo Māori.
